The Genetics of Flowering Response in Cotton. IV. Quantitative Analysis of Photoperiodism of Texas 86, Gossypium Hirsutum Race Latifolium, in a Cross with an Inbred Line of Cultivated American Upland Cotton

The Genetics of Flowering Response in Cotton. IV. Quantitative Analysis of Photoperiodism of Texas 86, Gossypium Hirsutum Race Latifolium, in a Cross with an Inbred Line of Cultivated American Upland Cotton

Genetics 47(11): 1535-1542

Texas 86, which does not flower during the normal growing season in Texas, was crossed with D & PL-14 and the F2 and F3plants were scored for flowering date. The variance estimates of the genetic components were thence calculated; flowering, which was quantitatively inherited, was partially dominant to non-flowering under long-day photoperiods, with a dominance ratio of 0.48.
