Although the bactericidal action of the blood or isolated uterine secretions did not differ in the oestrous or progestational uterus of cows and rabbits, the oestrous uterus was capable of reducing experimental uterine infections within 4 hours. Uterine antibody production was too slow to account for this reaction.
