The nutritive value of sweetened condensed milks

Three groups of 8 rats 6 weeks old and weighing 50 g. were given for 24 days diets with fresh milk or reconstituted sweetened condensed milk stored for 3 or 26 months as the only source of protein. There was no significant difference in weight gain. Twenty-one rats weighing 150 to 200 g. were given for 9 days a ration without protein and N balances were measured. From the tenth day they were given a ration which restored their initial weight within 5 days.
