The reaction of wild potato species varying in frost resistance to the influences of cold of different intensity and duration

The reaction of wild potato species varying in frost resistance to the influences of cold of different intensity and duration

Z. Pflanzenz, 48: 101-05

In experiments conducted in the climate chamber, ice formation in the leaves always caused damage in Solanum chacoense but in S. demissum only caused damage at temperatures below -2.5 degrees to - 3 degrees C. and in S. acaule below - 4 degrees to -4.5 degrees C. Severe frost of short duration caused more lasting injuries than less severe frost for a longer period.
