The relationship between time of harvesting and fibre production in flax under the conditions of Israel

Fibra 3(1): 15-20. bibl. 14

Five stages of flax ripening (green, early-yellow, late-yellow, dough, and fully-ripe) are described, and recommendations on time of harvesting flax for fibre in some countries are reviewed. An account is given of 3 field trials to investigate the most suitable time for harvesting flax for fibre in Israel, where flax is grown in winter and harvested in early spring.
