Presents data on growth, yield and stem form of Aspen, based on extensive material grown from seed or cuttings, indicating a wide spread of site classes. It was superior to Oak, Beech or Spruce in height growth, and to other Poplars in stem form and form factor. Existing stands are thought to be too dense and therefore underdeveloped in diameter, e.g. 15 cm. d.b.h. at age 30 (though this is more than double that of associated trees of other species, in mixed stands).
