Theoretical equations are developed for elasticity, tensile strength and shrinkage in the radial and tangential directions, as functions of the separate values of rays and prosenchyma (here taken as all cells except ray cells) and of early and late wood respectively, regarding the whole wood as a complex laminate of its anatomical components.
