Abstract
Twenty-nine strains representing five rice species were collected from various African and Asian countries and tested for resistance to Pyricularia oryzae strain P2. Average susceptibility and genetic variability data are provided for each of the strains examined. Resistance was highest in Oryza sativa strains from Malaya and Thailand. Most of the wild and a few of the cultivated strains were heterozygous for reaction to the disease.
