Abstract
Mice of the be, C and Swiss inbred strains and of be x C and be x Swiss crosses received 5 injections of oestrogen totalling 12. 5 I. U. beginning at 20 days of age, one injection being administered every 3rd day. Data on body weight at 35 days and on mammary growth response were compared. The F1 hybrids proved to be the most uniform in both respects, while the inbreds were the most variable, the random-bred mice being intermediate. A high degree of heterosis was observed in both characters.
