Vitamin levels in urine and plasma, vitamin saturation and clinical and metabolic relations in normal young, middle-aged and elderly subjects

Vitamin levels in urine and plasma, vitamin saturation and clinical and metabolic relations in normal young, middle-aged and elderly subjects

Acta vitaminol 10: 245-254

Plasma values and urinary excretion of several vitamins were estimated in 80 healthy people aged from 16 to 94 years. Lower values for urinary excretion of vitamin B1and ascorbic acid and slightly low values for ascorbic acid in plasma were found in older people living at home, and significantly lower values of ascorbic acid, beta -carotene and vitamin A were found in plasma of subjects living in an old people's home. Plasma tocopherol was high in middle-aged people.
