Wetting of wood

Wetting of wood

Rep. Timb. Developm. Ass., Lond. 1961. 30-1

A fundamental study was made of the energy changes occurring when a wood surface is wetted by a liquid such as a finish or glue. Angles of contact of water and three other liquids of different surface tension were measured by a special microscope technique on Beech, Parana Pine, Greenheart, and Western Hemlock, the mean of 30 measurements being found.
