A comparison of economic traits in single and twin lambs

In single- and twin-born Soviet Merinos, 100 in each group at birth, body weight in kg averaged 4.7 and 3.6 at birth, 28.7 and 23.7 at 4 1/2 mth, 40.7 and 39.2 at 12 mth, and 47.1 and 46.9 at 24 mth of age. At 1 yr of age, clean fleece weight averaged 2.3 and 2.2 kg resp., wool fineness 21.1 and 20.9 micro , and wool breaking length 8.1 and 8.0 km.
