A second species of house dust mite, Dermatophagoides farinae Hughes involved in house dust allergies

A second species of house dust mite, Dermatophagoides farinae Hughes involved in house dust allergies

Proc. N. cent. Brch Am. Ass. econ. Ent, 23: pt. 1, 74-75

The house-dust mite Dermatophagoides farinae Hughes is implicated as a source of house dust allergen. Allergen extracts from "excellent" house dusts and from adult and immature mites were tested on a total of 207 patients in Ohio. Of these, 100 showed positive and 41 negative skin reactions to mite extracts. 33 were negative to mite and dust extracts, and 33 were negative in all skin tests.
