Diss. Abstracts (Ann Arbor, Mich.). 24: 9, 3683. Price: Microfilm $2.75

This region is one of the most densely settled areas of India. Average rural density exceeds 1, 100 persons per square mile of cultivated land and more than 80 per cent of the rural population works in agriculture. This study reveals a picture of a rapidly increasing rural population faced with a gradually deteriorating agricultural system.
