Additive and non-additive genetic effects on growth rate in domestic fowl

Additive and non-additive genetic effects on growth rate in domestic fowl

Proc. XIIth int. Congr. Genet, Tokyo, 1: 273

Selection increased 8-wk weight by 35, 26 and 42 g per generation in 3 populations over 9 generations, and by 47 and 65 g per generation in 2 populations over 5 generations; the increases were measured as deviations from a randombred control population. Selection intensity was similar in all selected populations. In a cross between 2 of the lines, non-additive genetic variance was 82 g.
