Agricultural land prices in England and Wales
The average price for all farms in England and Wales in 1959 was <pounds>73 per acre whereas by 1969 the average had risen to <pounds>196 per acre, an increase of over 153 per cent. The average yearly compound increase amounted to 12 per cent. The biggest percentage increase occurred between 1964 and 1965 when it amounted to 30 per cent. In contrast to these trends the total number of transactions and the total acreage involved have decreased during the period.
