Application of linear programming to farm planning in developing countries: a case study of arable farming in Western Nigeria

Application of linear programming to farm planning in developing countries: a case study of arable farming in Western Nigeria

Journal of the Association for the Advancement of Agricultural Sciences in Africa. Addis Ababa 1(1): 28-31

Linear programming methods are applied to farm planning in the Derived Savannah Belt of Western Nigeria. This belt is an ecological zone better suited to the production of arable crops than to cash/export crops such as cocoa, kolanuts, coffee, rubber, and oil palms. Arable crop possibilities include maize, rice, tobacco, cotton, kenaf, cassava, yams, peas, beans, melons, and vegetables.
