Assessment and selection of initial material for breeding perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.)

Assessment and selection of initial material for breeding perennial ryegrass (Lolium perenne L.)

J. agric. Sci, Cambridge 74: 433-44

DOI: 10.1017/s0021859600017512

In a breeding programme in which 75 introduced populations were evaluated, individual plants were planted 9 x 9 in. apart. At this density, plants were individually distinguishable throughout three growing seasons but gave complete ground cover of herbage.
