Promising experiments are described on inarch grafting of avocado trees in root rot areas with partially resistant Duke avocado seedlings and cuttings. The approach graft has been found to be the most applicable method. Duke seedlings made better inarches than the cuttings. Subsequent inarching trials, using small-fruited, root rot (Phytophthora cinnamomi)-resistant but graft-incompatible seedlings such as Persea borbonia, P. veraguasensis and P. caerulea have not been as successful. -Univ.
