A new N-fixing micro-organism, for which the name A. paspali is proposed, was found in the rhizoplan and rhizosphere of P. notatum and P. plicatulum. 75 out of 76 soil samples from the root surface of P. notatum and 2 out of 3 soil samples from P. plicatulum contained the organism.
