Behaviour of nitrogen in mineral arable soil. 4. Effect of soil conditions on gaseous nitrogen losses, especially nitrogen and nitrous oxide from applied nitrate

Behaviour of nitrogen in mineral arable soil. 4. Effect of soil conditions on gaseous nitrogen losses, especially nitrogen and nitrous oxide from applied nitrate

Bulletin of the Tokai-Kinki National Agricultural Experiment Station. 21, 151-163

N losses (mainly N2 and N 2O) from applied KNO 3increased with increasing rate of glucose addition to the soil. With > 0.33% glucose however, N2 and N2O losses decreased gradually (related to increased Oj consumption). N losses reached a maximum at 30-35 degrees C. With 0.17% glucose addition at 30 degrees C, N losses were 85% as compared with 39% in the absence of organic matter.
