No brucellosis titres were found in serum from 846 Illinois residents who had no known occupational exposure to this disease. Titres were found in two of 168 pig producers, 13% of 551 abattoir employees and 18% of 122 veterinarians and veterinary students. The rate had been 36% among Illinois veterinarians in 1956.
