Chemical components of Asparagus racemosus

The flowers contained quercetin, hyperoside and rutin; the green fruits contained the same glycosides of quercetin, hyperoside and rutin as the flowers but no free quercetin. The ripe fruit contained 2 anthocyanin pigments. Rutin and another flavonoid glycoside were found in the leaves, whereas the roots contained no flavonoids or asparagine although an extract, on acid hydrolysis, yielded a little steroid sapogenin.
