Saturated fatty acids, estimated by gas chromato graphy, constituted 67.73% and 66.44% of the total amount in cow butterfat in winter and summer, respectively. Corresponding values were volatile fatty acids 19.34 and 17.40% and linolenic plus linoleic acids 10.4 and 14.0%.
