Dehusked grains of Oryza sativa var. japonica 'Dunghan Shali' were treated with the chemical, after which some were washed, dried and stored at 20 degrees C. for seven days before sowing, the rest being sown immediately after washing. The number of chlorophyll mutations in the M1 and M2 was slightly but not significantly higher after drying. In both cases the numbers were 2-3 times. higher than those from irradiation.
