After a habituation period 2 mutton sheep weighing 80 to 90 kg were given daily for successive periods of 10 days 500 g each of meadow hay and dried rye grain, unsprouted or with 20.5, 26.8, 34.9 or 51.1% sprouting. In another experiment 4 Angeln Saddleback X Pietrain pigs weighing 60 to 70 kg were given daily 600 g rye, excluding that with 51.1% sprouting, and 200 g of a basal meal, or 850 g rye with 34.9% sprouting and no basal meal.
