Abstract
An incubation method of estimating mineralizable soil nitrogen which has several advantages over previous methods is described. It involves determination of the (exchangeable NH4 + NO3 + NO2)-N produced when the soil sample is mixed with three times its weight of sand, moistened with water (6 ml/10 g of soil), and incubated under aerobic conditions at 30 degrees C for 14 days.
