Developments in the pig industry and factors in the Australian meat market affecting demand for pigmeat

In the past 16 years Australian production of pig-meat has almost doubled and in 1968-69 the gross value of pigs slaughtered reached A$85 million, or over 2 per cent. of rural output. The increased production has been virtually all consumed on the domestic market although Australians are still relatively small consumers of pigmeat compared with W. Europe and N. America.
