Direct-sowing cultivation of rape (B. napus L.). 1. Effect of some conditions on germination and early vegetative growth

Germination percentages decreased and emergence was delayed with increasing thickness of soil cover. Varietal differences in percentage and time of germination occurred when the soil cover was < 4-6 cm in thickness; optimum thickness seemed to be 3 cm.
