In pot experiments with sunflower and summer rape on quartz sand, increasing K supply (and to less extent increasing Mg or Ca supply) increased leaf and stem yields. An increased concentration of cations, especially K+, in the substratum retarded the accumulation of Mg, P and N in the plants.
