Two groups initially of 17 Simmental bulls about 4 months of age were fattened for 230 days. For one group the ration was 95% concentrates and 5% sunflower husks and for the other 76% concentrates and 24%, hay by weight. Mean daily weight gains were 1.20 and 1.23 kg and feed used per kg gained was 6.29 and 6.31 feed units (the FU = 0.605 kg starch equivalent). The concentrate mixture was of maize with a protein supplement and mineral and vitamin additives.
