In a field trial in N.W. Guyana, maize X304 sown in June and Nov. 1969 was given a basal dressing of limestone and all combinations of 0, 55 or 110 kg N, 0, 50 or 100 kg P2O5 and 0, 66 or 132 kg K2O/ha. Increase in N from 0 to 110 kg and in K2O from 0 to 132 kg/ha increased grain yields from 2637 to 3265 and from 2641 to 3221 kg/ha, respectively; although these increases were non-significant, the linear components of the increases were significant.
