Effect of high rates of a refuse-sewage sludge compost and of sewage sludge on loess infill material

These manures were mixed at 3000-10, 000 m3/soil with loess infill used for the restoration of a brown coal open-cast mine, and the mixture was buried in pits dug in a field. Over a period of 2 years, the moisture content of the buried material, cropped and uncropped, was increased by the sludge. The compost increased the moisture content in the 80-100 cm layer only of the uncropped variant.
