Effect of late fertilisation with nitrogen on nutritive value of Pangola grass (Digitaria decumbens)

Plots of Pangola grass, already mature at the end of the rainy season, were fertilized with 63 kg N/ha, as urea or ammonium sulfate. Half the plots were cut 35 and half 70 days after fertilizer was applied. Significant increases in yield of DM were produced by the fertilizers, more with urea than with ammonium sulfate, and yields at 70 days were higher than at 35 days.
