Effect of ratios of feed and nutrients in several feeds on rate of growth, feed efficiency and quality of pigs killed at different final weights and on yield of fresh meat and that for canning, and profitability. 3. Effect of energy: protein ratio, with and without antibiotics, on carcass quality of fattening meat pigs

Effect of energy: protein ratio, with and without antibiotics, on carcass quality of fattening meat pigs

Poljoprivredna Znanstvena Smotra. 25: 11, 16

Five groups of 10 Dutch Landrace pigs were fattened from 39 to 110 kg liveweight. Diets had 12, 14, 16 or 18% protein with 2.606, 2.776, 2.867 or 3.256 kcal /kg, and 2 groups also got 10 mg taomyxin/kg feed. Kcal/percentage unit protein was from 160 to 207. Groups did not differ in gain or efficiency of feed conversion. Back fat tended to be thicker on diets with more energy. (From summary.)-T.
