Effect of varying soil water regimes during different growth phases on the yield of rice under different atmospheric evaporative demands

In pot experiments rice plants were grown in saturated soil. During and after the end of each of 4 growth phases, the plants were subjected to water stress or flooding under (a) high, (b) medium or (c) low atmospheric evaporative demands. Under (a) and (b), soil water stress (unsaturated soil) during any of the 4 growth phases, gave grain yields which were lower than with flooding.
