Morphological, genetical and ecological adaptation studies were carried out on nearly 400 maize strains from Bolivia to ascertain their suitability for introduction into the temperate zone and for utilization in genetic improvement programmes in southern Europe. The strains are grouped into racial complexes, and plant characteristics for races under different photoperiods are tabulated.
