Effects of superphosphate and potassium fertilizer on crop yield and soil in long-term experiments with vegetables

Two long-term fertilizer experiments were conducted on a sand and sandy loam, with vegetables having a high fertilizer requirement. The 4 x 4 x 2 factorial combinations involved K as sulfate or chloride, P as superphosphate, and Mg as kieserite applied every 4th year. On sandy loam the highest yields were obtained at the highest K level (600 kg/ha). The high requirement may have been due to leaching. Annual applications of 60 kg P/ha increased yield.
