Monthly surveys from March to December in 1968 and 1969 showed that previously unexposed pigs started to develop antibodies to Japanese encephalitis virus in May and that 80% (in 1969) to 100% (in 1968) had antibodies by September-October. All the piglets from six gilts infected m their first pregnancy on one farm were stillborn in January-February.
