Estimation of ascorbic acid by paper chromatographic separation of its osazone. 3. Stability and isomerisation of ascorbic acid osazone in acid medium

Estimation of ascorbic acid by paper chromatographic separation of its osazone. 3. Stability and isomerisation of ascorbic acid osazone in acid medium

Nahrung. 11: 421-427

For previous work see Abst. 481, Vol. 38. 3. Studies on the stability of the ascorbic acid osazone in solution revealed that 7 isomers occur if the reaction solution is allowed to stand for several weeks at room temperature in the presence of acid. These isomers can be separated by thin-layer chromatography on silica gel with heptane and ethyl acetate (60: 40) as solvent. Their proportions depend on the acid concentration.
