Evaluating the effectiveness of hot-water treatment against eelworms, Aphelenchoides spp., in strawberry runners

Evaluating the effectiveness of hot-water treatment against eelworms, Aphelenchoides spp., in strawberry runners

Prace Inst. Sadown. w Skierniewicach, 13: 133-45. bibl. 11

Good control of A. fragariae and A. ritzema-bosi in strawberry leaves and buds was obtained by immersing the runners at 46-46.5 degrees C. for 10 minutes. Lower temperatures were ineffective and longer immersion caused damage. The optimum time for treatment was August and early September. Sensitivity to treatment depended on the cv., Cambridge Favourite, Ydun and Senga Sengana being the most and Mme Moutot, Talisman, Buxley and Purpuratka the least resistant of the 11 cvs tested.
