Abstract
From 70 kg liveweight 2 groups of 20 double. muscled Piedmont cattle were given feeds appropriate to their age for 56 weeks. The main sources of protein were groundnut and soya bean oilmeals, but for one group 2% urea was given at their expense to supply about 32% of total N. Average daily gains without and with urea were 1.07 and 1.03 kg and intakes of feed units/kg gained were 4.2 and 4.4.
