Feeding value and use of rapeseed meal in feeding poultry. 3. Rapeseed meal for laying hens

Feeding value and use of rapeseed meal in feeding poultry. 3. Rapeseed meal for laying hens

Arch. Gefliigelk 33: 119-124

In a trial with laying hens, diets had no rapeseed meal or 10 or 20%. All diets had the same energy value, crude protein, Ca and P contents and vitamin supplements. The hens were studied for 50 weeks from 20 weeks of age. Mortality increased with the amount of rapeseed given from 11.1 to 25.9%. The hens not given rapeseed were significantly heavier at the end. The diet with 20% rapeseed meal reduced egg production by 23 and efficiency of feed utilization by 26%. Less feed was eaten.
