In pot experiments on 4 podzolic soils containing 3.5-10.5 ppm available S, mustard, peas and beans were fertilized with 0, 0.4 and 0.8 g N/8 kg pot and 0, 0.15 and 0.30 g/pot S as Na2SO4, and in field experiments on a podzolic soil containing 10.5 ppm available S mustard, red clover and potatoes were fertilized with 0, 50 and 100 kg/ha N as NH4NO3and 0 and 100 kg/ha S as gypsum. In pot experiments S only increased mustard yields when applied with N.
