Paddy water applications of 1 kg diazinon a.i./ha at 15- to 20-day intervals were more effective for controlling Nilaparvata lugens, stem borers and whorl maggots than foliar sprays containing 0.04% diazinon applied every 15 days from transplanting to harvest. Diazinon increased paddy yields to 6.6-7.3 t/ha compared with 4.9 t/ha in the untreated control.
