Genetic variability in two open-pollinated varieties of corn (Zea mays L.) and their F1 progenies

Genetic variability in two open-pollinated varieties of corn (Zea mays L.) and their F1 progenies

Crop Sci, 5: 505-08

Full-sib and half-sib progenies developed by mating male parents of Golden Republic and Barber Reid to female parents from both varieties were evaluated. Genetic variances estimated from intravarietal families tended to be lower than those from intervarietal families. The ratio between these genetic variances was less than one for the five characters studied.
