Growing plants of Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies in artificial beds covered by plastic sheets, compared with growing them uncovered in nurseries

Growing plants of Pinus sylvestris and Picea abies in artificial beds covered by plastic sheets, compared with growing them uncovered in nurseries

Stud. Cerc. Inst. Cerc. Silvice (Ser. I, Silv.). 28: 81-109

Reports the growth and yield of seedlings aged up to 2 years in nursery trials on P. sylvestris at 70 m alt. and P. abies at 740 m alt. in Rumania. Beds were prepared as a layer of (a) 5 cm of Spruce humus or (b) 25-30 cm of Spruce litter laid over nursery soil, with or without temporary polythene greenhouses in the spring months.
