Growth of released Redwood crop seedlings on the Redwood Experimental Forest

Growth of released Redwood crop seedlings on the Redwood Experimental Forest

U.S. For. Serv. Res. Note Pacif. Sthwest. For. Range Exp. Sta, PSW-229, 5

Tests were made of basal or foliage spraying with equal parts of 2, 4-D and 2, 4, 5-T, or hoeing/cutting, to clear areas of 2, 3, or 4 ft. in radius round selected 3- to 4-year-old Sequoia sempervirens. Released seedlings showed faster growth than untreated ones during the first three growing seasons after release, but by the end of the fourth year growth patterns were similar and both treated and untreated seedlings were competing with the re-established weed species.
