Guiding investigations on the demonstration of antibodies against fungi in animal and human sera. 1. The incidence of 19S and 7S antibodies in animal immune sera against some inhaled moulds

Guiding investigations on the demonstration of antibodies against fungi in animal and human sera. 1. The incidence of 19S and 7S antibodies in animal immune sera against some inhaled moulds

Mykosen 11(11): 785-792

Fifty rabbits inhaled spore suspensions of Penicillium decumbens, Cladosporiu harharum, Aspergillus niger, Alternaria tenuis, or Mucor globosus daily l'or 30 days and their sera were then tested by immunodiffusion. There was always a hand between the antigen and the homologous serum. Separation into 19S and 7S antibodies was achieved by gel filtration on sephadex G200 and treatment with 2-mercaptocthanol. The antibodies found belonged to the IgM (19S) macroglobulins.
