Heritability and inheritance of plant height, heading date and grain yield in four spring wheat crosses

In F1, F2 and back-cross populations from the crosses Sonora 64 x C591, Sonora 64 x C273, Pitic 62 x C591 and Pitic 62 x C273, plant height, heading date and grain yield were quantitatively inherited. Relative to the better parent, heterosis for tallness and grain yield was observed, but for heading date the F1S approached the mid-parental values and did not exceed the early parent.
